Background music during talking and prayer at church.

Why do we have to have the cheesy background music playing while people are talking or praying at church. I know that every TV evangelist uses background music but can't we keep it a little more real than that? Do we have to make things more DRAMATIC than they are? Perhaps we are trying to push the peoples emotional buttons.

It just seems to make it as corny as my grand pappy's feet.

So is your complaint against all background music during prayer times? Or just the cheesy variety?

I am really not fond of any of it but I especially do not like the cheesy kind. Maybe it's because I am lactose intolerant.

yes, I agree with you Chris. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that background music enhances the effectiveness of prayer, which God answer according to His will and through Christ's merit, not because He likes the music. Or if the music's intended to somehow stir us up emotionally and make us feel more religious, that's mysticism not Christianity
